2017 $250 Grant Awarded for Little Free Library in honor of East Hampton's 250th Anniversary

KOCO Child Care Center will be celebrating East Hampton's 250th Anniversary all summer long with campers grades K-7. They will design and create a Little Free Library to donate to the town of East Hampton. The plan is to install the Little Free Library at Seamster Park, adjacent to Memorial School, in mid-August. Campers will formulate a design after researching the rich history of our community. They will then use real hand tools to construct the Little Free Library. A $100 pop-up grant from the Community Foundation of Middlesex County will also be applied to this project.

The objectives of this project are for students to research the history of East Hampton and collaborate on a design and decide where and how best to install the structure at Seamster Park. They will stock the Little Free Library with a curated selection of favorite books and participate in a dedication ceremony mid-August. The goals will be achieved at weekly meetings of the "Bellringer Club" at KOCO Child Care Center, under the direction of Janet Santos, Assistant Director of KOCO. The project will begin Friday, June 23rd and will end when we dedicate the installation on Tuesday, August 8th.
